Kid’s & Parent Yoga classes provide fun, stimulating, and challenging yoga practices to develop body awareness, flexibility, and balance. We also explore techniques to relieve stress and frustration, improve concentration and focus, and also experience relaxation. Parent involvement is welcome and encouraged and provides an opportunity to share a fun activity together with your child; poses and activities for parents are also included.
The aim of this class is to provide an environment that is relaxed, nurturing and supportive ... where each child is respected and is able to develop the self-confidence and self-esteem to explore new, challenging and fun poses. To also provide an opportunity for mothers to share in a fun and enjoyable activity with their children to reconnect and deepen their bonds.
It was in this class that I realized how important it is for mothers to participate in our kids yoga classes when I saw the look of amazement and respect on a young boy's face (6 year old) when he saw that his nurturing, sweet, cuddly mother was able to do a handstand longer than he could ... and that she was able strong enough to do partner acrobatics with him (of course all under the guidance of a well-trained yoga teacher/therapist ... to ensure that all was safe for mother and child). This is just one of the reasons that parents are always welcome.
