My experience of motherhood has been truly inspirational and motivational. This, coupled with my personal experience of the deep and profound benefits of yoga during pregnancy, birth and parenting prompted me to make the leap from scientist and lecturer at a medical school to yoga teacher and therapist. I am finding that my training and experience as a scientist and tertiary-level educator, together with my 20-year personal yoga practice, and my training in structural yoga therapy, family yoga and pregnancy yoga allows me to draw from a variety of resources and provides me with unique insights and understanding that I offer to my students and clients.
To me, yoga provides ease and comfort in the body, mind and breath. My aim is to help my students and clients to transition into that ease and comfort.
I have the following qualifications, training and experience:
Yoga training:
- Structural Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Training with Mukunda Stiles; www.yogatherapycenter.org; London, 2006-2009
- Perinatal Yoga Retreat with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli; www.sitaram.org; 2006
- Family, Pregnancy and Well-Woman Yoga Training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli through YogaCampus in London; www.yogacampus.com; 2010-2011

Vicky Honar
I was a breastfed baby, as were my six siblings - very unusual in the sixties in UK! I am a qualified nurse and midwife, working as a midwife for over 20 years in the UK and the UAE. I breastfed my own babies, the first for two years and the second for eighteen months—not without problems! I also returned to work when my daughter was 11 weeks old so I have personal experience of how to manage that transition. I have been a certified lactation consultant with the IBLCE since 2005.
A lactation consultant is a specialist in the area of breastfeeding. The credential “International Board certified Lactation Consultant” - IBCLC identifies an experienced health professional who has acquired specialist skills, made an in-depth study of breastfeeding and lactation and passed an exam set at university level of difficulty.
